I hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer so far. I have been trying to do short trips to stretch out my vacation. June 11 - 13 my son and I traveled to Boston to watch the Phillies play the Red Sox and to see the oldest baseball stadium still standing. We enjoyed the stadium but unfortunately the Phillies lost. We are now thinking of going to D.C. to watch the Phillies play the Nationals at the end of July. In between, we attended the wedding of the daughter of a good friend and have another wedding coming up in a couple of weeks.

While keeping busy with this, I have been searching for shows to participate in during the fall. I am signed up for three of them so far and hope to do more. I've also contracted with someone to make my earring displays so that they are unique. They are picture frames that have been covered in very feminine white on white fabric and I'm very happy with them.

I've also decided to branch out into copper jewelry and will be posting some pieces in the next few weeks.

In my "What's New" page of my website I have a few new pieces inspired by St. Thomas. Please take a peek - I'm sure you will love them as much as I loved making them.

In and Out

Well, we are back from our weekend in the Pennsylvania Mountains and still going strong. Attended a friend's milestone birthday party and next weekend my son and I are doing a road trip to Boston to see the Phillies play the Red Sox. We are baseball fans and I want my son to see one of the oldest stadiums before Boston decides to tear it down. The following week we attend the wedding of a dear friend's daughter. Whew!

I did have a little time in between and started my St. Thomas inspired jewelry. Below is one of the newest items. You can see all of them in detail at my website under "What's New". Please come back for more news and more one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Great Inspiration

My family just came back from a wonderful vacation in St. Thomas. If I had known how beautiful the Caribbean was, I would have gone sooner!

The tranquil turquoise waters, pale pink and white shells and lush green foilage was a great place for inspiration for my summer line of jewelry. Funny as this sounds, I relaxed by designing soft and eye catching earrings and necklaces using sea green, pale aqua, pink and peach beads and crystals set against the coolness of silver. As soon as I got home I started putting my ideas to work. You will see my Caribbean inspired pieces very soon on my website, so stay tuned.

I'm sitting here staring at the five sets of new beads I purchased from a glass blower and my brain is freezing up. I love these beads but I'm having a hard time getting the creative juices flowing. I know they will be earrings because I bought them in pairs - three will be spring/summer earrings and two will be fall/winter ones. Sometimes if I just think about them, ideas will come to me. I picture someone wearing them and what the occasion is. I can then design around that image. The white shimmer earrings can be worn by a bride or someone with a tan. The floral earrings are worn by someone who is laughing and enjoying herself. The blood red with silver is worn by someone wearing jeans and out to dinner. Hmmmm, I'm starting to get some design ideas.

Well, my son Jeff went back to school today so all is quiet in the house again. I was able to design two pieces this weekend. One is dainty and made from a key and Swarovski crystals ("Key to My Heart") - a little different than I usually design but pretty nevertheless. The other is perfect for the summer - a necklace and earring set made of shimmery glass teal wavy discs paired with Swarovski crystals and pearls ("Ocean Waves"). I picture the summer sun glinting off the slight metallic shine of the discs, crystals and silver. I found a wonderful bead maker who creates these unusual discs and I usually buy 5 sets at a time from her. Her beads are always perfect and my imagination goes wild.

It is going to be hard for me to let that set go - I can see lots of complements coming my way when wearing this set.

I have a set of vanilla wavy discs that I'm beginning to think about and can't wait to see what I come up with.

Hmmmm, where to begin

So I've decided to join the 21st Century and create a blog. I'm having such a great time using the creativity I never knew I had that I decided to have a running commentary as I go along. I've got to start creating some absolutely stunning pieces for the spring rush of weddings, proms, graduations and Mother's Day gifts. So, as I go along, I'll be posting my ideas here.
